About Matt

Today, Matt Nemer works as the CFO of PlushCare, a telemedicine group in San Francisco. The company allows people to be treated by a world-class physician no matter their location. All of PlushCare’s doctors have an average of 15 years practicing medicine, and all of them have trained at a top-50 medical school. Patients can choose a doctor, have a conversation, be diagnosed, and receive a prescription, all from a smartphone or computer. PlushCare also accepts most major insurance, meaning that a doctor’s visit is now affordable for everyone. Matt Nemer’s experience doesn’t end there. Matt is known for being the first retail analyst to recognize the dramatic shift that Amazon would bring to brick and mortar stores around the world. He was also the first analyst to write extensively about DNVBs, one of his many areas of expertise.

Before joining PlushCare, Matt Nemer served on the executive team at ecommerce startup Hims Inc. managing the finance and strategy functions. This follows nearly two decades as a leading Wall Street research analyst cover the retail and ecommerce industries. He primarily focused on digital commerce and digitally native brands. 

As the first and only US-based analyst to cover brick and mortar retail with pure-play ecommerce companies, video commerce companies, and global marketplaces, Matt Nemer’s work has landed him as a keynote speaker at Google’s Think Retail conferences, with his expertise quoted in nearly every major financial media outlet to boot, such as Wall Street Journal and CNBC. His work has shed light on the current state of retail, Amazon, consumer habits, ecommerce, and a host of others, solidifying him as a go-to in financial strategy.

Before his position with the men’s wellness business Hims Inc, Matt served as an advisor to various startups including HotelTonight and ecommerce investment bank ComCap LLC. Previously Matt was a Managing Director at Wells Fargo Securities providing equity research coverage in the retail, ecommerce, and marketplace sectors. He has also worked on a variety of retail and ecommerce transactions, including IPOs and follow-ons for Alibaba, Wayfair, Dollar General, Five Below, and dozens of other consumer growth companies. He also worked at Thomas Wiesel Partners,  DLJ, and Montgomery.

Matt graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA degree in Economics and attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts. In his free time, he operates a retail store in Marin County, CA where he experiments with retail technology, donating the profits to the local public school. He also enjoys playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and teaching his kids how to work the new point of sale system.
